This is my grandmother’s simplest recipe. We enjoyed this on days, onion and garlic were not used in the kitchen.
Ingredients:
1 ¼ cup water(quantity may vary according to variety of rice)
½ cup rice (washed and drained)
1 small potato (peeled and diced)
1 or 2 green chillies (chopped)
2 tablespoons fresh grated coconut
1 tablespoon ghee
½ teaspoon (or to taste) salt
Method:
Put water in a pot and boil. Add all the rest of ingredients to boiling water. Boiling will stop.When again the boiling starts, reduce the heat. Cover the vessel with lid and cook on low heat till rice is cooked.Serve hot.
